Your motorcycle has two brakes. You need both of them to stop effectively. The front brake provides about three-quarters of your stopping power. Use both front and rear brakes in combination to provide good control.
Here are some things to remember about braking:
- Use both brakes every time you slow down or stop. If you use the rear brake for normal stops, you may not have enough skill to use the front brake properly when you really need it.
- Apply both brakes at the same time using a progressive squeeze.
- Make sure all your braking is done prior to the turn.
